1. Base Material Rates

Every fence material — wood, vinyl, chain link, aluminum, ornamental iron, and split rail — has a base installed cost per linear foot drawn from current market data. This base already includes typical labor, posts, and standard hardware.

2. Regional Cost Index

Labor and material prices vary widely by location. We apply a per-state cost index so an estimate for a high-cost metro reflects local reality rather than a flat national average. The index adjusts the base range up or down for your state.

3. Project Specifics

Your fence length (from the map you draw), material choice, and common add-ons like gates shape the final range. Site conditions a contractor finds on-site — sloped ground, rocky soil, demolition of an old fence — can move the real price beyond our estimate.
